Chiru plan sends jitters in TD camp

The reports that Megastar Chiranjeevi might announce the launch of a new political party has sent jitters in the Telugu Desam camp.

Though TD president N Chandrababu Naidu is trying to put up a brave front by saying that there is no political vacuum in the State that would enable a third alternative to emerge in the State politics, his party leaders are admitting in private that Chiranjeevi's entry into politics would cause a severe dent to the TD, rather than to the Congress. Hitherto, the strength of the TD is backward classes and if Chiranjeevi establishes a new party, all these sections might turn their loyalty to the new party.

According to the political observers, the Megastar's entry into politics might cause a re-polarisation of all the political parties which are in a state of confusion about the future political scenario. While the Congress is sitting pretty with Rajasekhara Reddy at the helm of affairs, the biggest sufferers would be the TD and of course, the BJP. And if Chiranjeevi takes a positive stand on Telangana, even the TRS would get a big blow in the State, sources say.
