Orkutters condemn Chiru’s new son-in-law

It seems like a genuine case of the real world spilling over onto the wired world. The Orkut scrapbook belonging to G. Sirish Bharadwaj, who recently got married to Chiranjeevi’s younger daughter Sreeja is now overflowing with hate messages posted by angry Orkut members, a majority of them being fans of Chiranjeevi. Orkutters are having a field day at the expense of G Sirish Bharadwaj, whose scrapbook bears a tagline “Name Says It All”. Sirish’s scrapbook is now filled with hate messages from Chiru’s fans and people in general. Most of the messages are unprintable and highly abusive from Orkutters who believe that Sreeja is cheated.

In fact, the forum has now turned into a no-holds barred profanity-spewing contest in which both parties are actively involved in slandering each other. Apart from this, there are also Orkutters who have begun creating fake profiles just for the purpose of flaming the message boards. One of them has also attempted to impersonate Sirish by creating a fake profile of his. Reads one of the anti-Sirish messages on the scrapbook, “You fool, how do you think you are going to support her? You don’t even have a job.” In fact, groups supporting Chiranjeevi are teaming up with each other to collectively spam the scrapbooks of individual supporters of Sirish.

There are also those who believe that the youngsters have taken an irresponsible and immature decision by not informing the parents of their marriage. According to the comment posted by an Orkutter, “You should have waited and got settled professionally in life before embarking upon marriage.” In fact many users posted common threads that highlight the very young age of the couple and how they are “so unprepared for what life has in store for them”. A user said, “A week in the real world without the parents will be all it takes to make them realise the enormity of the impulsive action they have taken and get them both back to their respective parents.”

While the majority of the messages on Sirish’s scrapbook are of a condemning nature, there are also a few that are not so. Some young Orkutters have commended Sirish for what they call a ‘gutsy move taken by a youngster who was aware of his responsibilities’. In fact, an elderly gentleman, who also happens to be an Orkutter says, “Parents should not come in the way of the children deciding what they want to do with their lives. Upto a certain age, we can play the part of the guardian, but after a certain age, we are only facilitators of some needs that they have. If the couple has the courage to take on life, let them do so.”

I gave Tendulkar out wrongly against England: Umpire Dar

Mumbai, Oct 19 (IANS) Pakistani umpire Aleem Dar has, for the first time, admitted he gave Sachin Tendulkar out wrongly in the deciding seventh One-Day International against England in London last month.

"Immediately after I gave Tendulkar caught by wicket-keeper Matt Prior off Andrew Flintoff I realised from his reaction that I had given a wrong decision," Dar told IANS in an interview here.

Tendulkar, who scored 30 off 46 balls, was visibly stunned and he uncharacteristically stood in his crease for a few seconds, suggesting he had not snicked the ball, before returning to the dressing room.

Batting first, India were reduced to 59 for four with Tendulkar's dismissal and eventually lost the match by seven wickets at Lord's and with it the series 3-4.

Dar, who was here to officiate in the India-Australia One-Day Internationals, said that the mistake had occurred because of a brief lapse in his concentration.

"On that ball Flintoff was very close to bowling a no ball and as I was looking at his foot my concentration was disturbed," said Dar, widely considered one of the best umpires in the world.

Asked if he felt like taking his decision back to enable Tendulkar to continue batting, the 39-year-old member of the International Cricket Council's Elite Panel said that he had never recalled any player.

"Since I had never called any batsman after giving a decision I did not call him back. So, if I were to call Tendulkar I would also call the last man if given wrongly out," reasoned the man from Lahore.

"I knew that match was the decider. And I was upset after giving that decision. It was tough match (for me)," he said, referring to the 3-3 series score before that match.

Dar, however, showed his regret and tried to show his feelings to Tendulkar immediately after the match.

"After the game when players shake hands with the umpires, Tendulkar also shook my hands on the field. As he did that I said to him 'hard luck'," disclosed the affable official, who became the first Asian to officiate in 100 ODIs here Wednesday.

"Players also know that how good an umpire is. They understand that mistakes are not made deliberately and they respect good umpires."

A former first-class player himself, Dar revealed that if he is not satisfied with one of his decisions early in a match it bothers him.

"If I give an erroneous decision early in a match it plays on my mind. But I try not to let that decision affect me for the rest of the match," he said.

Dar, who also officiated the final of the 2007 ODI World Cup, was recently short-listed among the three umpires for the annual ICC's Best Umpire Award, which eventually went to Australian Simon Taufel.

He is thankful to his parents and his wife for their sacrifices to enable him to be away for long periods and concentrate on his job. His work entails him being away from home for seven-eight months a year, which forces him to miss his three young sons.

That is why Dar, who has also officiated in 39 Tests, has decided to quit umpiring at 50, 10 years before the retirement age prescribed by the ICC.

Till late in the night, the hero’s family was waiting for Srija, 18, the youngest child, to return home, but there was no sign of the newly-wed couple.

A shell-shocked Chiranjeevi remained incommunicado and was reportedly not at his Jubilee Hills house. According to sources, he was watching the events unfold on news channels all through the day. Late in the evening, he sent his emissary, brother-in-law and producer Allu Aravind, to speak to the media.

“Chiranjeevi is in a state of shock. He is not in a state of mind to speak to his fans. He gave her (Srija) all the freedom. He was like her friend, we don’t know who led her astray,” Aravind said.

The drama unfolded at around 10 am when Srija, dressed casually in jeans, went out of the house for a walk and on the way wanted to meet her aunt. She left in a friend’s vehicle. An hour and half later, Srija surfaced at Arya Samaj mandir, New Bowenpally. Her lover Shirish Bharadwaj (21) was already there. The couple, both majors, exchanged garlands and took marriage vows as per Arya Samaj tradition at around 11.30 am in the presence of friends.

Soon after the marriage, the couple asked for help from police and the media as they feared for their lives. Speaking to the media, Srija alleged her family members forced her to discontinue the relationship from the time they came to know of it. “As soon as my parents came to know of my affair with Shirish, they forced me to discontinue studies. I was virtually confined to home,” Srija, who was a student of St Francis College, said.

The couple said, she was in a state of ‘house arrest’ after she turned 18 on November 9 last. Shirish Bharadwaj is reportedly an engineering student of MGIT, Gandipet. Their love story began some four years ago when they were still minors at Jubilee Club. The two nurtured the relationship over the years till the girl’s family came to know of it. In a interview to a news channel recently, Bharadwaj reportedly alleged that Chiranjeevi and his fans were threatening him.

The couple said they were waiting for the right time to get married since they wanted to stay together. Sources said, Srija probably feared her love story would meet the same fate as her sister Sushmita’s. Srija’s elder sister was engaged to upcoming hero Uday Kiran, but a few months later the wedding was called off citing “incompatibilty” between the couple. However, the real reason was Uday Kiran was forced out of the relationship, they added.

Mahesh Babu must have some criminal background in the film. NTR had criminal background in the film 'DCM'.

Buzz: Venkatesh Did That In Single Shot

There is a scene in the song 'Tulasi' where Venkatesh brushes a yellow paint just beside the cleavage of Nayantara. The song is 'Nee kallathoti naa kallu …'. It is said that big heroes in general take many takes while shooting such scenes. They like to repeatedly do such naughty scenes saying that the perfection needs to come. Nayantara also expected that Venkatesh would repeat the scene many times.

But Venkatesh is different from others, say the unit members. It seems that he completed that shot just in single take and the director said 'ok'.

Venkatesh is very dignified and gentle with heroines and Nayantara also said the same in a recent interview. Venkatesh is not at all naughty with heroines off the screen.
