Reel Buzz: 'Chirutha' In Piracy Trap!

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/chirutha21192428812.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

This was the incident happened in Kukatpally region couple of days ago. A 20 year old guy and a middle aged man were in a hotel while the former said in loud voice, "The camera print DVD of 'Chirutha' is in market now". Then the elder person reprimanded the boy saying, "Don't talk nonsense in public. Our own talkativeness' brings problems for us. Don't I know about that? Keep your mouth shut".

This was reported to greatandhra.com by its regular reader. He also said that the those two are appearing to be from film industry.

It was later noticed, as per the grapevine, that the DVDs are being found in towns of coastal Andhra as well in some selective outlets in Kukatpally Zone. A spy attack would unearth those DVDs if any.

Comparison Between 'Chirutha' and 'Happy Days'

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/happydays-chirutha1192240533.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

There appears to be only one formula to get big openings for small films. It is sure that big films need not have very big pre-release publicity. If they do, that adds a little extent for the openings. But small films definitely need publicity. Many small directors and producers assume that the audiences would gush into theaters if they arrange for 4 press meets and 40 posters before the release. Today, even distributors are not coming forward for such hype. The only thing that pumps in life for the collections of any film is 'good mouth publicity'. That is possible only when the film comes out well. Small directors and producers have no other way other than making films in very interesting way. Right story, right screenplay and right interesting element are the core points for success. All this makes a film get good collections.

Just comparing between 'Chirutha' and 'Happy Days', the former has one and only interest point-that is the introduction of Chiranjeevi's son. That brought very big openings but eventually due to the lack of proper story line it is turning off. On the other hand, in 'Happy Days' there are no stars and there are no sons of big stars. All are new faces and new names except Sekhar Kammula. But still the film is ruling the roost. The only interest element for its success is the talk that says, 'a very good movie'.

One thing is straight- Sekhar Kammula brought interest on his film from the beginning by announcing 'Talent Search', then tied up with corporate sponsorships. He got right casting, able to extract melodious music from Mickey, and then released the film in overseas first. 'Chirutha' pulled interest of people by not showing the face of Ram Charan in any trailer before the release of the film.

Both films opened well. Chirutha bagged huge collections because of the hype and number of prints then fell flat, but at the end Happy Days sustained!!

A Gen-Next hero in Tollywood

Even as Bollywood watchers are keenly await Saawariya, which will launch Raj Kapoor’s grandson, as the hero, a new Gen-Next hero has just been born south of Vindhyas. After a small skill show in Daddy where he proved his dancing skills, superstar Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan Teja has made his debut with Chirutha, three weeks ago.

The movie had a wide release with around 350 prints including Andhra Pradesh as well as scores of overseas markets. His name alone of course does is not familiar, yet, millions of hearts welcomed him to Tollywood. Yet, being Telugu mega star Chiranjeevi’s son is enough. Expectations were sky high as there is no more truism in South cinema than “In filmdom, it pays which family you are born into”.Produced by Aswini Dutt’s Vyjayanthi Movies, Chirutha comes from one of the most established banners in the Telugu film industry. Dutt’s past record includes big films with both Chiranjeevi and his younger brother, Pawan Kalyan.

The young scion also had the advantage of having his debut film directed by Puri Jagannath, an established commercial director, whose films kept Tollywood’s box office ringing. For Ram Charan Teja there could not have asked for a better launch pad. Money too was not a constraint as Dutt is said to have pumped anywhere between Rs 15-18 crore for the movie’s production, with a sizable portion of its being spent extensively in overseas locales, especially in and around Bangkok. The hype surrounding the launch of a new star duly helped the film and it was sold for an estimated Rs 25 crore. Crazy fans of Chiranjeevi as well as others rushed to the theatres in droves across the state. As a result, it collected almost Rs 12 crore in the first week itself.

Yet, the film has not proved to have staying power. From the second week on, the film’s collections started sliding. Director Jagannath seems to have got carried away by the hype of launching a new star, and has not focused on the key areas of a film — the story and screenplay.

Fortunately for Ram Charan Teja, its the film which has got all the criticisms while he has landed up with accolades for performance, action scenes and even his dancing skills! All in line with his father’s image. So, yet another Gen -Next star, in the lines of Mahesh Babu (son of Krishna) is born.

'Chirutha' Climax Copied From 'Apocalypto'

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/chirutha31192081204.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Puri Jagannath proved that he is a wonderful copy cat. He took the climax of Chirutha from the film 'Apocalypto' as it is. The entire chasing and hunting scene between Ashish Vidyarthi and Ram Charan is taken from 'Apocalypto' directly.

Mel Gibson directed the film and the character name of the hero in that film is Jaguar Paw (means the 'Hand of Chirutha'). That way the title of the film is also adopted from that.

Jaguar Paw's dialogue in the film goes, "this is my forest and it is my hunt'. The same dialogue is translated in Telugu "Ee Adavi Naadhe..ee veta naadhe". The fight episode of honey bees and Ram Charan coming out from mound of mud are taken directly from Apocalypto climax. Where is Puri Jagannath's creativity in the film? The collections of the film have dropped out miserably. Even the copy formula didn't work well for the success of the film.

Trade Talk: A Mass Masala And A Class Flick

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/happydays-chirutha1191557948.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Two films have released this week out of which one is the much awaited block buster and the other is a film that enthralled critics and college students.

Ram Charan's 'Chirutha' has given success for Ram Charan but the film proved to be failed in substance. The audiences those have assumed that there would be good depth in the story of Ram Charan's debut have got disappointed. But Ram Charan entertained the audiences with his dances and fights. Critics say that Ram Charan's characterization, weak story line, feeble narration and Neha Sharma's acting made the film a dull retreat. The collections for this film in first week are very good but eventually a drop is observed.

But Sekhar Kammula's 'Happy Days' that was released in Andhra on 2nd October is doing very well by attracting college students. The film has depicted the relations between class mates in an engineering college in a very sensitive way. The film has made 100 percent openings in A centers.

NTR's 'Yamadonga' complete its 50 days run and running ahead.

Amitabh: Even Abhishek Was Scary Like Ram Charan

[chiruthaphoto-0006.jpg]

Bollywood Big B Amitabh once lauded Chiranjeevi as king of Indian cinema. Now he passes on grand wishes for Ram Charan.

Amitabh Bachchan expressed, "My wishes to Ram Charan for his debut. It is on his shoulders to keep up the name of his father, Chiranjeevi who is a legend, a wonderful personality with the stardom beyond limits. That is scary at times for the young Ram Charan. Even Abhishek had the same scare when he did his debut a few years back. My family shares very good rapport with Chiranjeevi's family and it is like one of my family members debuting screen. I once again wish you Ram Charan".

That's the wish of Big B to Ram Charan for his 'Chirutha'.

‘Chirutha’ Review : It’s A Good Ram Charan’s Show!

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/chirutha_review1190950811.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Film: Chirutha
Cast: Ram Charan, Neha Sharma, Tanikella, Ashish Vidyarthi, Prakash Raj, MS Naayana, Daniel Balaji, Brahmanandam, Dharmavarapu, Ali, Venu Madhav etc
Editing: MR Varma
Cinematography: Sham K Naidu
Choreography: Raju Sundaram, Nobel
Art: Chinna
Music: Mani Sharma
Production: Ashwini Dutt
Story, Screenplay, Dialogue, Direction: Puri Jagannath
Release Date: 28th Sep 2007

The D-day has come and the wait stops here. Ram Charan’s debut released and here are the details.

Story:
Charan’s (Ram Charan) father (Surya) gets killed by a gangster Mattu Bhai (Aashish Vidyarthi) in his childhood. His mother also gets severely injured in the same attack. He happens to go behind bars putting the crime on his head for saving his mother with an expensive surgery. He stays in jail for 12 years and then comes out. He learns that his mother was died when he was in jail. He moves to Thailand with the advice of his uncle. There he joins in a travel agency in Bangkok. He happens to escort a rich girl (Neha), the daughter of a rich man Kartikeya (Prakash Raj). He falls in her love by looks but very soon notices that she is arrogant, proud and adamant. He dilutes all her negatives and fills love in her followed by some action episodes. The climax is very well understood. It’s about how he puts an end to Mattu Bhai and quenches his revenge- and how he wins the rich man’s daughter.

Performances:
Ram Charan’s entry scene was composed very well with high dose of heaviness. There is big punch in introduction fight as well. The fight in Thai temples also scores well in his performance. But on a whole he appeared more like Pawan Kalyan in many scenes. Dances are good with some resemblances to his Mega Dad.

Neha is only for glamour quotient and to run the show, but she didn’t do anything marvelous. She is like any other imported stuff.

Prakash Raj and Aashish Vidyarthi are the character and villain characters respectively and they have justified their roles.

The comedy by Ali, Dharmavarapu and MS Narayana is entertaining.

Big score goes to cinematography, graphics, music and sound department. Puri Jaganath didn’t show his punch this time.

Analysis:
At the outset, the eagerness of the audience is to know about Ram Charan Teja’s performance. Well, there is no Teja in his name. It’s just mentioned ‘Ram Charan’. He did it. He proved that he has that in himself. His dances, his looks, his voice, his fights and over all performance are good. It never appeared that it is the first film of Ram Charan. He has definitely got brightest future.

Ram Charan Has:
o Good Base Voice
o Body language of Pawan Kalyan to 20% , Chiranjeevi up to 20%,Puri Jagannath style 30% and 30% of his original
o Dances are good with some Chiranjeevi’s grace. Its an Major Advantage
o Macho look is unique and interesting
o Bearing and boldness and more than sufficient

It’s the film that stood on the shoulders of Ram Charan completely, Yes, the reference of Chiranjeevi or Konidela is not all used in the film. But the biggest blemish is story line and screenplay. How Puri could come out with that outdated formula introducing the son of a big hero? There is no twist, no turn and no suspense element. Everything is very much in the anticipation limits of common audiences. The second half is adopted from ‘Kaho Na Pyar Hai’…the island, the love…the same! First half has some good elements with the introduction scene of Ram Charan. The punch in sound, the perfection in digital effects and the expertise in other technical aspects of the film are felt well.

The entertaining aspects in the film are Ali’s comedy and Dharmavarapu’s rib tickling dialogues. MS Narayana also spilled enough laughs while Brahmanandam is not used properly, Venu Madhav has o big role to play. Music is mass appealing and the songs

1. Ososi Rakasi..
2. …Gundello Goli Maro score the top of all songs.

On a whole the film is for the fans and general audience may not relish much as the story point scores less. Puri would have taken better care in story and narration aspect to fill in that gap. The production values are really excellent.

Chiranjeevi's son all set for debut

All eyes are on Ram Charan Teja, megastar Chiranjeevi's son, the new kid on the block who is making his debut with Chirutha.

Directed by Puri Jagannadh and produced by Ashwini Dutt under Vyjayanti Movies, the film is slated for release on September 28.

Perhaps after Nagarjuna (son of thespian Akkineni Nageswara Rao) made his debut two decades ago, this is another instance of a son following his famous father's footsteps. Ram Charan Teja surely has to cart a lot of baggage being Chiru's son and the late Allu Ramalingaiah's grandson.

Even though it's the megastar's son debut, there is not much of hype and hungama about the film. There is hardly any information about the storyline nor publicity about the film. One of film's posters features Ram Charan with his face covered by a hat. Looks like Dad dearest wants to keep the publicity and promotion at a low key perhaps for fear of over exposure.

Even the film's audio release (August 22, which also happens to be Chiranjeevi's birthday) was a quiet affair with the star himself away in London. Nevertheless, Mani Sarma's music seems to be rocking as Yamaho Yama (a bi-lingual song in Telugu and Hindi) is topping the charts.

Chirutha is said to be shot in and around Hyderabad and Bangkok. Neha Sharma is the lucky girl acting with Ram Charan. Going by the normal trend of Telugu movies, it seems Chirutha will have all the ingredients -- action, romance, etc -- to entertain.

Puri Jagannath is a master-crafter of screenplay even though he works on wafer-thin plots. He is certainly on a high after the stupendous hit of Pokiri and the successful Desamuduru (starring Allu Arjun -- Ramcharan's cousin). So, one expects Chirutha to be uber-stylish and slick too. Whether he will be able to complete a hattrick with Chirutha remains to be seen.

As for Ram Charan, he certainly has a huge task ahead. Living up to his father's super image as well as charting a path on his own is quite a tough act to follow.

Let us wait for September 28 to see if a new star is born.

Buzz: Chirutha Controlled By Chiru and Aravind

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/chirutha21190351430.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Puri Jagannath is found much tensed now and the reason s known for all. The prestigious responsibility of introducing Ram Charan Tej, the son of Chiranjeevi is kept on the shoulders of Puri. The D Day is coming closer. Chiranjeevi was very well involved in the making of the film as well. It is said that he asked Puri to re shoot some sequences.

Adding to this, the involvement of Chiranjeevi is seen in publicity aspect also it seems. It is said that Puri takes utmost care and interest in designing the publicity material for any of his films. But Chiranjeevi and Aravind again negated with Puri in the matter of poster designs and asked to do again. Chiranjeevi is completely immersed in all the aspects of pre publicity and release.

If the film runs out to be success, the credit goes to Ram Charan and if it fails it goes to Puri. Hence Puri is highly tensed now. Fans are disappointed till yesterday as there were no trailers in TV so far. The publicity is very weak for the film so far.

The entire show is being controlled by Chiranjeevi and Aravind. The names of producer and director seem to be only dummies.

Only the D Day should decide the tension relief of Puri.

Spotlight: Ram Charan's 'Chirutha' Story Leaked?

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/chirutha11190267412.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

This is the story that is making rounds in internet through emails as the story of 'Chirutha'. The truth in this is not known but we have to wait and see if it coincides with the original.

"Durga (Jagapathi Babu) is a big factionist in Hyderabad. He has a sister (Neha) whom he takes care off from her childhood and she is very dear to him. Durga has a rival "Taslim Khan" based in Old city and Neha's life is under threat because of the gang fights between both groups

Neha is always followed by bodyguards and her body guards try to beat up some innocent student in college thinking he might be having links with Khan. Somebody in college calls his friend on Mobile asking to help his innocent friend. A series of Phone calls are shown and msg reaches some one and the phone calls stop with this guy. He is none other than "Charan Tej" who gives life for friendship. He comes to the college in minutes and here is the introduction fight of hero. Elevation of hero is handled excellently by Puri Jagannadh and this is by far the most powerful introduction any new hero got in last decade.

The scenes following revolve around how heroine gets impressed by charan's quality risking his life for somebody he doesn't even know and she falls in love with him in her first look. First half of movie goes really fast with good comedy timing by Charan and his friends (Sunil,Venumadhav etc). There are some gripping moments in the movie when Jagapathi Babu and Charan meet one another and Jagapathi Babu doesn't know that Charan is the same guy who hit his men in college. Interval bang comes in a way where Charan goes to Old city into Khan's den, gives him warning and comes back. By the end of first half, the expectations of people will be set very high about the second half.

Second half deals with how Charan shows the power of youth to fight out both gangs in the city with his intelligence and how Charan manages to win his love by overpowering Jagapathi Babu. The film has to be watched on screen and is a treat to fans and very enjoyable to movie lovers.
